What is Enstilar®?

Enstilar® is a new topical treatment for psoriasis. Enstilar® is available on prescription, so you'll need to talk to your doctor to find out if it's right for you.

How is Enstilar® different from other psoriasis treatments?

Enstilar® is the only psoriasis treatment that comes in a foaming mist application that supersaturates psoriasis lesions to give superior penetration of the active ingredients. 


What are the main ingredients in Enstilar®?

Enstilar® contains two active ingredients: calcipotriol (related to Vitamin D); and betamethasone dipropionate (a corticosteroid).
The calcipotriol in Enstilar® treats the overactive skin cells.
The betamethasone dipropionate relieves redness, swelling, itching and irritation of the skin.


How often should I use Enstilar®?

Apply Enstilar® once a day.


How long will I need to use it for to see results?

Treatment durations normally last up to 4 weeks though many will see benefit from as soon as seven days. However, we do recommend you discuss this with your doctor, who will provide the best advice and ensure the treatment course that is right for you.


What are the main side effects of this medicine?

As with all medicines, Enstilar® can cause side effects, though you may not experience any. The most common side effects you may experience are: Skin irritation, skin pain, rash, sensitivity to light and a change in control of diabetes. If you think you may be experiencing side effects from Enstilar® and they worry you, talk to your doctor.


Will it stain my clothing?

You can wear most of your usual clothes without staining, however it’s best to avoid contact with fabric that is easily stained by grease (e.g. silk).


How much does Enstilar® cost?

Enstilar® is available free although some pharmacies may charge a prescription fee. Talk to your doctor to find out if it's right for you.
